Brandon Vaughn is an accomplished martial artist, experienced self-defense instructor, author and public speaker with over twenty-five years of experience in the martial arts.

His martial arts training started with Taekwondo and during those three years he not only learned self-defense but also gained self-confidence, discipline and focus.

In 2003, after graduating from Appalachian State University, Brandon decided to try a different style of martial arts and therefore dove into Karate. He was certified as a 7th DegreeĀ Black Belt in Karate by the American Martial Artists Association in May of 2014.

Wanting to become a more well-rounded martial artist, Brandon began training in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (Gracie Combatives) in May 2009 earning his Blue Belt in May 2010. In July of 2013, Brandon traveled to Gracie Academy headquarters in Torrance, California where he successfully completed the Instructor Certification Program.

Brandon is constantly training and teaching, not only for self-improvement, but also to gather and share world class martial arts knowledge with his students and clients. To do this he regularly attends seminars to train with some of the best martial artists and self-defense instructors in the world including Mike Swain, Greg Jackson, Paul Vunak, Stephen K. Hayes, Ryron and Rener Gracie, and many others.

Brandon is currently the head instructor of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Advance and has been teaching martial arts and self-defense since 2005. He also teaches personal protection classes to the security personnel at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital twice a month. He leads by example, showing what is possible to students of all ages. His goal is to inspire others to dream big, desire to learn new things, and aspire to reach their full potential.
